Modernization Estimate Worksheet in AI Era
This worksheet lists the 33 items a modernization estimate should cover. For each item, enter what you counted, how many days each one takes, your low and high figures, and where the numbers came from. The worksheet adds up the effort, the cost and the minimum schedule, and it lists the gaps to fix before you submit the estimate.
No checklist covers every system. If yours needs an item this list does not have, add it in the notes of the closest item, or use the AI prompt in the article to build a version that fits your environment.

Team and running costs
The minimum schedule divides the effort by the time people have. It assumes everyone can work on anything. The delivery date may be later once work that must happen in order, scarce specialists and customer dates are included.
